From their Web Site:
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition is an industry-wide group of leading apparel and footwear brands, retailers, manufacturers, non-governmental organizations, academic experts and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency working to reduce the environmental and social impacts of apparel and footwear products around the world.

GrowNYC Loop-De-Loop Rescheduled

Recycling Loop-De-Loop at Union Square Greenmarket
Rescheduled due to the hurricane!
Saturday, October 15,
11am-3pm
17th St. b/t Broadway & Park Ave

The market will be abuzz with recycling activities for you! From 11am-3pm, repurpose an old t-shirt into a grocery bag for your local produce with Textile Arts Center, learn how to dye your bag with plants from the Greenmarket with Textile Lab and beef up your NYC recycling skills with OROE.

All three activities will take place at the Pavilion located in the North Plaza near 17th St and Union Sq. West. And, like every Saturday, you can bring fruit and veggie scraps to compost with the Lower East Side Ecology Center from 8a-5p and textiles to recycle with Wearable Collections (East side of the Greenmarket near 16th St).

WC Featured in YOXI Social Entrepreneurship Competition

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

YOXI, pronounced like “YO!!! SEE!!!”,  a new kind of social media site, provides social entrepreneurs with feedback and funding for their ideas through a matrix of public interactivity.  Top public contributors are rewarded for their sincere insights and top social entrepreneurs receive $upport for their ideas.  Kind of a win-win-win situation- because even bystanders will eventually benefit, too.

Wearable Collections’ founder, Adam Baruchowitz, was featured as a model social entrepreneur in YOXI’s most recent competition: Trim the Waste of Fashion.

We dig the mission of the winning team, Sea:Endless.

Thanks so much guys for featuring us! We were so thrilled to participate in such a cool effort! Keep us in the LOOP! :-)

Hey all! If you have kids or friends at NYC schools, use this postcard to set up our EASY, ECOLOGICAL Fundraising initiative (click the bolded link to download PDF file):

Wearable Collections school 8×11 folder

5Cents per lb go directly back to the host school.

Schools can choose to have a permanent bin and collection service in place, or many opt for 1x or seasonal clothing drive collection services. Either way, the benefit is direct.

We already work with 50+ schools all over the city. Talk with your school admin or PTA to get started. We require only 15 minutes of setup time.
